Atsuko Takada offers personal coaching for Japanese people who are seeking a career in English speaking countries, particularly in the airline industry, preparing them for job interviews, writing CVs, and helping them to better understand the western corporate mindset.

As a Japanese native living for many years in NZ, Atsuko wanted a logo for her business that conveyed NZ with a Japanese flavour and reflected her personality. Although her audience is specific, she wanted her brand to allow for future diversity. We discussed a few ideas before choosing a fantail for its recognisably NZ and very cute or ‘kawaii’ personality, and as a metaphor for taking flight or achieving goals.

I explored ways to ‘logofy’ the fantail, combining aspects of contemporary Japanese design, soft feminine colours and an elegant but modern script typeface to create a warm and friendly identity.
